We live on a 3rd generation working cattle ranch near the beautiful
Badlands of North Dakota, which was started at the turn
of the century by
Les's Grandfather, Lars.
We are a family oriented operation that besides raising
beef cattle, runs a
small diverse band of AQHA mares that are bred for speed,
cow sense,
substance, conformation, disposition, and looks.
Here in the Northern country, the elements can be very harsh
so our horses
are grown to be hardy. Haugen Ranch horses are given regular
care of worming,
vaccinations, and trimming; they are people friendly without
being spoiled.
The colts and mares run in big pastures in the summer grazing
on native grasses, mineral tubs, fresh water.
Haugen Ranch horses learn at an early age to ford creeks,
cross coulees,
go up and down buttes and get their feet up under them -
that makes for
tough legs and healthy hooves. They are fed on a daily ration
of grain, hay,
clean water and mineral tubs in the winter. We believe in
letting the horse
grow at a natural rate, which in turn will make for a hardy
horse to enjoy
for years to come whether you choose to go to the ranch,
arena, or pleasure.
Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions.
